Tegtmeier and the men’s tennis team finished up their fall season at the Wesleyan University Invitational over the weekend. Tegtmeier made it to the finals of two different flights, winning the ‘D’ Singles flight and finishing as runner-up in the ‘B’ Doubles flight. In singles action, Tegtmeier opened his weekend with an upset, rolling past the top seed from of RPI, 6-0, 6-2. He defeated an opponent from Tufts, 6-4, 7-5, to set up an all-Brandeis semifinal against classmate Nico Ramirez of Miami, Florida. In the semis, Tegtmeier rolled to another straight-set win, 6-2, 6-3, setting up yet another all-Judge match with senior Benjamin Wolfe of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. Wolfe reached the finals by taking down the second seed from Bowdoin in the first round, 3-6, 6-4, 10-3, and upending the third seed Shaw from Amherst in the semifinals, 7-5, 7-5. In the battle of the Judges in the finals, Tegtmeier outlasted Wolfe, 3-6, 6-3, 12-10.

In doubles action, Tegtmeier paired with junior Rajan Vohra of Glen Head, New York, to reach the finals. They defeated a pair from RPI, 8-3, in the first round, then took down the fourth-seeds of Middlebury, 8-6, in the quarters. They bested another seeded squad, the No. 2 duo from Amherst, 8-5, in the semis, before pushing the top-seeded pairing from Bowdoin to a tiebreaker in the finals before ultimately falling, 7-8 (3-7).

The Judges return to action in February with their first-ever trip to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Team Indoor Championships in Minnesota. The Judges will meet conference rivals Washington University in the opening round.
