WALTHAM, Mass. – Men’s swimming and diving sophomore Richard Selznick of Las Vegas, Nevada, has been named the October 31st Brandeis Athlete of the Week, presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group.
In the first three dual meets of the 2018-19 season, Selznick has been undefeated in the distance freestyle events. He won both the 500-yard and the 1000-yard freestyle in meets against Hartwick on October 19, Vassar on October 20 and Wheaton College on October 27. His best times came in the Wheaton meet, Brandeis’s home opener, when he went 4:55.72 in the 500 and 10:10.28 in the 1000.
Under first-year head coach Nicole Carter, the Brandeis men’s swimming and diving team is off to a 2-1 start. They return to action on Friday, November 2, with a meet against WPI and Babson College.
This is the fourth year that the Brandeis Athlete of the Week program has been presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group. The Athlete of the Year Program highlights a top Brandeis student-athlete who has had an outstanding athletic achievement from the week prior. Each selected student-athlete will be featured on the Brandeis athletics homepage and inside the Chateau Waltham and Jake N Joes

Selznick is a 2017 graduate of Palos Verde High School.
