Sam Freund joined the Brandeis Athletics staff in March of 2016 as Equipment Coordinator. In that role, he oversees all aspects of Brandeis’s equipment room, including maintaining all practice and game equipment for the Judges’ 19 sports; overseeing and budgeting equipment orders; and maintaining relationships with Brandeis’s apparel and equipment vendors.

Freund joined Brandeis after two years at Division I San Jose State. Prior to that, he also worked in equipment rooms in the Greater Boston area at Harvard and Wheelock.

In addition to his experience as an equipment manager, Freund serves as the coach of Brandeis’s club rugby team and has been certified as a USA Rugby referees since 2012.

Freund received his BA in Sport Studies with a minor in sociology from Ithaca College in 2010 and earned his Master’s in Sports Leadership from Northeastern in 2014.
