Hollins, Larkin and Selig earn UAA Athlete of the Week honors

WALTHAM, Mass. - Three Brandeis University student-athletes have been honored as University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for the week ending Jan. 24. Senior Terrell Hollins of Springfield, Mass., was selected for men's basketball, while juniors Emma Larkin of Montclair, N.J., and Grayce Selig of Narberth, Pa., were chosen for women's fencing and women's track and field, respectively.

Hollins, a forward and co-captain on the 20th-ranked Brandeis men's basketball team, was named UAA Player of the Week for the third time in his career. He averaged team-highs of 14.5 points, 13 rebounds - including the 500th of his career - and 4.5 assists as the Judges posted a 1-1 record last week.

Hollins opened the week with 14 points, 13 rebounds and three helpers in a 70-63 win over Rochester on Jan. 22. He had four points - all coming on offensive rebounds - in a key 8-0 run in the second half as Brandeis pulled away. In a 77-64 loss to Emory, Hollins achieved his fifth double-double of the season and the 13th of his career with 15 points and 13 boards, adding six assists, one shy of a career-high. For the week, Hollins shot 57 percent from the floor (12-21) and 63 percent from the line (5-8).

Hollins, who now ranks 17th on the Judges' career rebounding list with 525, needs just 31 more points to become the 27th 1,000-point scorer in Brandeis history. The Judges are 12-3 this season, 3-2 in the UAA and sit in a tied for third place in the conference, one game behind Emory and 3rd-ranked Washington University.

Larkin, an epee fencer, helped the Brandeis women's fencing clinch their second-straight Northeastern Fencing Conference crown. She posted an 11-1 record in wins over Dartmouth (19-8), Boston College (17-10), Brown (14-13), Smith (20-7), Vassar (16-11) and Tufts (21-6). Larkin's biggest match of the day came against Brown, when she posted the decisive victory in a one-point win against the NFC runner-up. Brandeis finished NFC action undefeated at 12-0 for the second year in a row. Overall this season, the Judges are 12-5, while Larkin is 41-11, the top winning percentage on the team. This is her second UAA honor of the season and her career.

Selig finished third in her heat in the mile run at the nonscoring Greater Boston Track Club Invitational. Selig's time of 5:00.53 seconds was an NCAA Division III Provisional qualifying time, just the fourth reported qualifying time in the nation to date. This is her first UAA Athlete of the Week honor.
