Fall sports get underway this weekend! Here's what to watch for:

Women's soccer at MIT (8/31, 4 p.m.) and at Clark (9/1, 5 p.m.): The Judges blanked the Engineers and Cougars at home last season, 2-0 each. Junior midfielder Mary Shimko scored both game-winners.

Women's cross country vs. Southern Maine at Weston High School (8/31, 5 p.m.): New England's 10th-ranked Brandeis women get a race under their belts before the UMass Dartmouth Shriner's Classic on 9/15, when both the men and women take the course.

Men's soccer vs Ithaca (9/1, 12 p.m.) and at Keene State (9/2, 2 p.m.): The Judges have won back-to-back ECAC crowns and also won Keene State's Xara Classic in 2011. Coach Mike Coven is entering his 40th season on the sidelines for the Judges, but he'll be the junior coach against KSC's Rob Butcher, who has guided the Owls for 41 seasons.

Volleyball at Western Connecticut State Invitational (8/31 at 7:30 p.m., 9/1 at 1 and 3 p.m.): The Judges look to bounce back from a tough 2011 with their entire line-up intact and a host of talented newcomers. Coach Michelle Kim's squad takes on Salve Regina on Friday night and Johnson & Wales and the host Colonials on Saturday afternoon. Brandeis went 2-1 at the WCSU Invitational in 2011.
