Brandeis SAAC celebrates Athletic Homecoming Weekend

The Brandeis University Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be holding a host of events when the Judges take on University Athletic Association opponents all weekend long.

UPDATE: Because of inclement weather in the forecast, the Friday Night Lights promotion on Oct. 15 has been canceled.

This Athletic Homecoming Weekend gets underway on Friday, October 15 with a Friday Night Lights event as the soccer teams take on Carnegie Mellon University on Gordon Field. Starting with the women's game at 4 p.m. and the men's game at 6:30 p.m., SAAC members will be serving FREE hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks and selling Jury t-shirts for $5 to represent Brandeis's cheering section.

Those Jury t-shirts will come in handy on Saturday, October 16 when Brandeis volleyball takes on rival NYU at 12:30 p.m. Any Brandeisian reporting for Jury Duty as the Judges take on the Violets will get a free slice of pizza! The UAA Round Robin begins when Brandeis takes on Case Western Reserve at 10 a.m.

On Sunday, October 17, back on Gordon Field, the SAAC members will be hosting Breakfast for a Buck while the Judges take on Emory University. The women start at 11 a.m. and the men at 1:30 p.m., but the most important meal of the day goes on sale for $1 at 10:30 a.m. There are also two UAA Volleyball matches, against Emory at 10 a.m. and Carnegie Mellon at 2 p.m. And you can also visit traveling author Kevin Austin, who is in the midst of a 4,500-mile UAA Soccer Road Trip, in his 1984 RV Honey to talk about your involvement in Brandeis Athletics.

In addition, all weekend long, Brandeis teams will be wearing pink in recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness month. A collection station will be set up at the Gosman Athletic Center concession stands.
