WALTHAM, Mass. -- Eleven different players had hits and nine
drove in runs today as the Brandeis University baseball team
defeated a short-handed Albertus Magnus College squad, 17-0, on
Stein Diamond.
Brandeis (18-16) scored nine runs in the second inning to seal the
victory, as five Judges pitchers combined to allow just one hit
while striking out 12 Falcon batters. Sophomore 1B Drake Livada
(Cape Elizabeth, Maine) led the way for the Judges, going 2-3 with
four RBI and game-high three runs scored. Sophomore James Likis
(Cambridge, Mass.) was 2-5 with three runs scored and two of the
squad's seven doubles on the day. Senior CF Chuck Sheehan
(Lexington, Mass.) was 2-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and a
triple. Senior Pat Mathews (Easton, Mass.) and rookie Pat Nicholson
(E. Walpole, Mass.) also had two RBI for the Judges.
Sophomore Drew Brzozowski (Concord, Mass.) struck out eight of the
12 batters he faced in four innings of work, while senior Brandon
Pick (E. Williston, N.Y.) tossed one hitless inning to get his
first career win.
Albertus Magnus sophomore SS Cameron Giordano (Hamden, Conn.) broke
up the Judges' no-hit bid with a double in the sixth-inning of the
seven-inning contest.
