Baseball drops a pair to second-ranked Trinity, 1-0 & 7-4

HARTFORD, Conn. (courtesy Trinity sports info) - Trinity College senior Chandler Barnard (Lubbock, Texas) pitched a one-hitter over six innings to lead the Bantams to a 1-0 win in the first game and a doubleheader sweep against the the visiting Brandeis University Judges in baseball action this afternoon. Sophomore James Wood (Windham, NH) accounted for the only scoring in the game, by means of a towering home run in the fifth inning.

Trinity kept rolling into the second game, scoring seven runs in the first three innings en route to a 7-4 triumph. Trinity, ranked No. 2 in the nation, improves the best record in college baseball to 32-0. Brandeis falls to 17-16.

Barnard and Brandeis' Craig Letendre (Acushnet, Mass.) combined to allow just three hits and one earned run in game one. Trinity senior SS Thomas DiBenedetto (Fort Myers, Fla.) went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI, while Malcolm Cone-Coleman (Portland, Maine) went 2-for-3 for the Judges in the nightcap. Several Bantam pitchers appeared on the hill for Trinity in the second game with senior Jon Rappaport (East Longmeadow, Mass.) earning the win.
