Baseball bats come alive in split with Farmingdale State, 7-11 and 14-6
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- The Judges lost game 1, 11-7, and won game 2, 14-6, against Farmingdale (N.Y.) State at the Russ Matt Tournament in Florida. Senior 2B Sean O'Hare (Southampton, Mass./Hampshire Regional) went 5-for-8 with 4 doubles, four RBI, and 4 runs scored on the afternoon. He was 4-4 with three doubles in the opener, 1-4 with a double in the second game. Grad student P/DH Pat Nicholson (Walpole, Mass./Walpole) hit a solo homer in game 1, while sophomore 3B Brian Ing (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) had a 3-run shot in game 2, the first of his career. The Judges had two extra-base hits in their first four games and 13 in this double-header (9 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs). Ing suffered the loss in game 1, junior lefty Mike Swerdloff (Scarsdale, N.Y./Ardsley) picked up the win in game 2. Brandeis is back in action Sunday against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology as they wrap up their February break trip to Florida.
