WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University rookie outfielder Liam O'Connor of Avon, Conn., has been named to the 2013 University Athletic Association (UAA) Baseball All-Tournament team.

O'Connor, the center fielder for the Judges, helped the Judges to a 2-6 record at the UAA tournament, held in Sanford, Fla., March 11-18. He finished second in the league with 14 hits, third with 16 total bases and eighth with a .389 batting average. O'Connor hit safely in six of Brandeis's eight UAA contests, with multiple hits in four of them, including a tournament-high four hits in a 9-4 loss to Emory University on March 15. He had a key two-run single in a four-run inning as the Judges defeated Rochester, 5-3, on March 11, and scored what proved to be the game-winning run in Brandeis's 4-2 win in 10 innings over tournament co-champions Case Western Reserve.

Overall this season, including their non-conference slate, Brandeis owns a 4-10 record in coach Pete Varney's 32nd year in the dugout. O'Connor leads the team with 20 hits and is tied with three doubles and eight RBI. He is third with eight runs scored, a .351 batting average and a .404 slugging percentage. O'Connor is one of only two Judges to have played in all 14 contests so far this season. Brandeis was slated to open the home portion of their schedule on March 20, but recent snows have left field conditions around much of New England unplayable.

O'Connor is a 2013 graduate of Avon High School. He is the son of Tom and Dawn O'Connor, Avon, Conn.
