NO. DARTMOUTH, Mass. (info taken from a UMD press release) -- The Brandeis baseball team suffered a 7-0 loss at the hands of UMass Dartmouth today as the Judges managed just seven hits against UMD rookie Aaron Chouinard. The Judges, who were unable to win back-to-back games, fall to 7-14 on the season, while the Corsairs improve to 7-10.

Four of the Judges' seven hits came from two players. Senior LF Nick Cortese (Guaynabo, P.R./Baldwin School of Puerto Rico) and sophomore 1B Kyle Brenner (Brookfield, Mass./St. Peter Marian) each went 2-4, with Brenner's double the only extra-base hit of the contest for the visitors. Sophomore 2B Tom McCarthy (Yonkers, N.Y./Fieldston School) who was named UAA Hitter of the Week earlier in the day, went 1-2 to extend his hitting streak to seven.

UMass Dartmouth broke on top when they scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The first two runs crossed on an RBI double by junior right fielder Wayne Bolz (Billerica, Ma/Billerica). Sophomore third baseman George Aggostini (Dighton, MA/Dighton-Rehoboth) and sophomore left fielder Luke Bomback (Swansea, MA/Case) singled home runs in the seventh, and senior first baseman Tyler White (Westport, MA/Westport) capped the scoring with a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. Aggostini finished with three hits, and Bomback and sophomore center fielder Ryan Medeiros (Acushnet, MA/New Bedford) each had two.

Senior left-hander Mike Swerdloff (Scarsdale, NY/Ardsley) started for Brandeis and pitched the first 6 2/3 innings, yielding three earned runs and taking the loss to fall to 2-3.

For the hosts, Chouinard walked none and struck out five in earning the victory, improving his record to 1-1 and pitching the Corsairs' first complete game of the season.

Brandeis returns to Stein Diamond tomorrow against Worcester State University.
