Oppenheimer named UAA Baseball Hitter of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. — Rookie second baseman Victor Oppenheimer of West Hills, Calif., has been named University Athletic Association Hitter of the Week for the week ending April 16.

Oppenheimer is the first Brandeis player honored by the UAA this season. He helped the Judges to a 2-3 week, including a split of a four-game UAA series with rival New York University. Oppenheimer led the team in batting average (.476, 10-21), hits (10), extra-base hits (6) and was second in RBI (4). He posted four multi-hit games in the five contests, including a 3-5 performance with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored in the finale against NYU, a 12-6 Brandeis victory.

Overall this season, Oppenheimer has hit in 10 straight games. He leads Brandeis with a .347 batting average, 25 hits and eight doubles. He also tops the squad with a .458 slugging percentage and ranks second with a .385 on-base percentage. Oppenheimer's eight doubles rank seventh in the UAA, while his slugging percentage is 11th and batting average is 12th in the league.

Oppenheimer is a 2016 graduate of Chaminade High School.
