HARTFORD, Conn. – The Brandeis baseball team dropped a 9-0 decision to host Trinity College this afternoon in a contest that was moved from Waltham to Hartford. The Judges had 10 hits to the Bantams' 11, but couldn't push any across the plate.

The Judges had three multiple hitters, including sophomore DH Kyle Lussier (Hingham, Mass./Hingham), who went 3-4. Seniors Ryan Tettemer (Westfield, Mass./Suffield Acad.) and Anthony Nomakeo (Westfield, Mass./Northfield Mount Hermon) each had two hits, with Tettemer's fifth-inning double Brandeis's only extra-base hit. The Judges were victims of three double-plays that erased scoring opportunities.

Trinity only had one more hit, but the Bantams had three doubles and a triple against Brandeis pitching. TC opened the scoring against Brandeis junior Sean O'Neill (Reading, Mass./Reading Memorial) in the third inning, then blew things open in the four in the fourth and three more in the fifth. Johnny Stamaitis (1-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2B, 3 SB) had a two-run double in the fourth, while Cooper Mooney delivered an RBI double and Matt Koperniak had a run-producing triple in the fifth.

Nine different Trinity hitters ended up with a hit, led by two each from Nick DiBenedetto (2-2, R) and Ben Reinisch (2-3, 2 R). Koperniak and Stamatis were the only Bantams with multiple RBIs.

O'Neill fell to 2-4 on the season after allowing eight hits and eight runs (seven earned) in 4.2 innings of work. Senior Mike Musto (Milton, Mass./Milton) was terrific in relief, allowing just one hit and striking out two over 2.1 innings after hitting the first two batters he faced.

Trinity's Chris Speer threw six scoreless innings to move to 2-0 on the season, giving up six hits and two Ks. Three Trinity relievers allowed four hits over the last three innings.

Brandeis (5-19) returns to action on Sunday afternoon against Rhode Island College.
