WALTHAM, Mass. – Rising Brandeis University senior lefthander Greg Tobin of Medway, Massachusetts, has signed an agreement to pitch for the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League until the end of the summer season.

The Cape Cod League is one of the most prestigious college summer leagues in baseball, having been around since 1885. Using wood bats instead of aluminum, the Cape League helped launch the career of Brandeis's only major leaguer, Nelson Figueroa '96. Several other former Judges have played in the Cape League, including Brandeis's current head coach, Derek Carlson, who also played for Harwich, back in 1990.

Tobin led the Judges with four wins, 45 strikeouts, 56.1 innings pitched and a 3.83 earned-run average this season. He started nine of the team's 37 contests. He finished fifth in the University Athletic Association in strikeouts, eighth in innings pitched and ninth in wins and ERA.

Tobin had been pitching this summer for the Watertown Rapids of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League in New York. He is expected to pitch either in relief tonight for Harwich in their game against Brewster or tomorrow as a starter, also against Brewster.

Tobin is a 2016 graduate of Catholic Memorial School.
