Brandeis men snap three-game skid with 72-60 UAA win at Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Sophomore guards Florian Rexhepi (Skopje, Macedonia) and Kwame Graves-Fulgham (Amherst, Mass.) each collected 17 points and six assists as Brandeis University defeated the University of Chicago 72-60 in University Athletic Association men's basketball action Friday night at the Ratner Athletics Center. The win was Brandeis's first in the Windy City since 1993-94.

Chicago (9-6 overall, 2-2 UAA) led 37-30 at the half. Brandeis (8-6, 1-3) took the lead for good, 42-41, at the 15:42 mark of the second period on a layup by Steve DeLuca (Merrimack, N.H.), who finished with 15 points.

The Judges took a double-digit lead for the first time, 59-48, with 6:37 to go on a Joe Coppens (Rockland, Mass.) three-point basket. Brandeis led by at least 10 points for the game's final 2:34.

Chicago shot 50% from the field in the first half, while Brandeis shot 46%. In the second stanza, the Judges connected at a 58% clip from the floor to just 32% for the Maroons.

Senior Jason Hicks (Glendale, Wis.) led the Maroons with 19 points. Junior Jesse Meyer (Omaha, Neb.) added 13.
