Hollins' career-high 27 leads men's hoops to 97-70 win at Emerson

BOSTON, Mass. -- Junior forward Terrell Hollins (Springfield, Mass./Longmeadow) recorded his third double-double of the season today with a career-best 27 points with 14 rebounds to lead the Brandeis men's basketball team past host Emerson College, 97-70. The 97 points scored by the Judges were their most since scoring 99 in a game in 2006 and are the fourth-most scored in head coach Brian Meehan's tenure.

Brandeis, which scored the first 12 points of the game and never looked back, shot a season-high 62.5% from the field (40-64) in winning their fourth straight contest. Hollins led the way on 11-of-17 shooting from the field and 5-of-6 from the line for his career-high 27 points in just 30 minutes. Four of his 14 rebounds came on the offensive end and he also registered four assists and two steals.

Three other Brandeis players scored in double figures. Junior guard Andre Roberson (Springfield, Mass./Wilbraham & Monson) had a season-high 18 points on 8-of-11 from the field with two free throws. Roberson also led the Judges with six assists and tied for game-high honors with three steals. Junior guard Kenny Small (Stratford, Conn./Stratford) came off the bench to connect for 14 points, hitting 6-of-8 with a trifecta and a free throw, while grad student Steve DeLuca (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) had 11 points on 5-of-8 with one from beyond the arc. Senior guard Kevin Olson (Rockport, Mass./Rockport) finished with seven rebounds and four assists.

Emerson was paced by 25 points from junior Brian Rouse (East Greenwich, R.I./Toll Gate) with 25 points. He hit on 9-of-18 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the line. Junior guard Jeremy Shannon (Lowell, Mass./Canterbury School), brother of Brandeis rookie Jaime Shannon (Lowell, Mass./Lowell), finished just shy of a triple double with 15 points, 10 rebounds and aseven assists.

Brandeis, which improves to 4-3 with the win, is next in action on Tuesday evening when they host coach Brian Meehan's alma mater, Clark University, at 7:00 p.m. Emerson falls to 4-2 and the Lions are next up against MIT at the same time in Cambridge.
