Cooper named second-team All-UAA

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University sophomore Jordan Cooper of Weston, Fla., has been named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Association second team for the 2015-16 season.

Cooper, a forward and the 2015 UAA Rookie of the Year, played in all 25 games, starting 23 of them. He led the Judges in scoring, averaging 15.3 points per game, seventh-best in the conference. He was fifth in the conference in scoring in 14 UAA games, when he averaged 17.2 ppg. Cooper also finished fourth overall with 149 field goals, second in conference contests with 95 buckets made. He finished second on the Judges in rebounding (4.6 rpg, 20th in the UAA). Cooper also led the squad with 28 steals, which were 13th in the conference, but 22 of them came in league games, second-most in the UAA.

Cooper scored in double figures in 19 of the Judges' 25 contests, reaching 20 or more points eight times. He led the team in scoring 14 times, including the last five in a row and eight of the last 10 games. Cooper's high-scoring game this season was a 35-point performance against conference foe Carnegie Mellon on January 31, the highest point total by a Brandeis player since 2010. Cooper was also the team's top rebounder eight times. Cooper ended the season with 692 career points, putting him on pace to become the 32nd player in school history to reach 1,000 for his career.

The Brandeis men's basketball team finished with a 9-16 record, 3-11 in the UAA this season, tied for seventh place.

Cooper is a 2014 graduate of Sagemont School.
