Men's fencing goes 5-0 at Northeast Conference meet

DURHAM, N.H. - The Brandeis men went 5-0 at the first Northeast Fencing Conference meet hosted by the University of New Hampshire. The Judges were led by sophomore Adam Austin (Dix Hills, N.Y./Commack), who went a perfect 12-0 in the saber as the Judges defeated host New Hampshire (25-2), Boston University (23-4), UMass (20-7), Sacred Heart (15-12) and rival MIT (15-12) in the closest matches of the day. The Judges were paced in the MIT match by the epee squad, which posted a 6-3 mark, including 3-0 by junior Alex Clos (Arlington, Mass./Arlington). The epee squad was key in the win over Sacred Heart, as senior All-American Will Friedman (Newton, Mass./Newton North) went 3-0 in a 6-3 victory.
