Quin named UAA Fencer of the Week

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University junior Ian Quin of Ramsey, New Jersey, has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Fencer of the Week for the week ending December 2nd.

At their annual home invitational, Quin led the Brandeis men to a 2-3 record by going 9-3 overall. The Judges defeated Cornell, 17-10, and the University of Incarnate Word, 16-11, but lost to St. John's University, 8-19; Yale, 3-24, and North Carolina, 12-15. Quin was 3-0 against St. John's, Incarnate Word and North Carolina, dropping three to Yale. Quin leads the Judges with a 16-5 record overall in dual meets this season and 27-5 overall.

The Brandeis fencing team is in its first season under head coach Jennie Salmon. The Judges are 7-3 in dual matches so far this season, including a perfect 5-0 in the Northeast Fencing Conference. Brandeis is done for the fall semester and will return to action on January 13, 2019, at the Western Invitational at the U.S. Air Force Academy.  

Quin is a 2016 graduate of Ramsey High School.
