ST. LOUIS, Mo. (taken from a WashU press release) – The
Washington University men's soccer team extended its winning streak
to three games with a 3-0 win over Brandeis University on Friday
night at Francis Field. With the win, Washington University
improved to 10-3-2, 2-2-1 in the UAA, while Brandeis fell to 9-6-3,
1-4 in the UAA.
Sophomore Ben Ryugo gave the Bears the early 1-0 lead in the 2 th
minute as his shot from 40 yards out went over the head of Brandeis
rookie goalkeeper Taylor Bracken (No. Andover, Mass.) for his third
goal of the season. Just five minutes later, junior Elie Zenner
scored his team-leading sixth goal of the year on an assist from
sophomore Eric Hill to put the Bears up 2-0.
Freshman John Hengel added a goal for the Bears in the 72nd minute
to round out the scoring.
Bracken had six saves in the losing effort as the Judges saw their
four-match winning streak snapped.
Washington University returns to action at home on Sun., Oct. 29 at
1:30 p.m. against New York University.
