WALTHAM, Mass. - Brandeis University senior backs Brett Fitzgerald of Hubbardston, Mass., and David Weinstein of Holden, Mass., have been selected to the University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Association men's soccer team.

Fitzgerald was named the All-UAA second team for the second year in a row, while Weinstein was an honorable mention selection. Both four-year starters and two-year captains at defense, Fitzgerald and Weinstein were two of only three Brandeis players to start all 20 games for the Judges this season. They helped the team to seven shutouts this year, including a 1-0 victory over Lasell College on Oct. 23 that was the 400th career victory for head coach Mike Coven. In their career, Fitzgerald and Weinstein led the Judges to 36 victories, including the 2006 ECAC Division III New England tournament championship.

"These are two of the best backfield players that I have had in my time at Brandeis," Coven said. "In addition to their fine play, Brett and David epitomize everything a student-athlete should be."

The Judges finished the 2007 season with an 8-9-3 record, helping Coven become the 10th Division III coach and second from New England to reach the 400-career-win plateau.

Fitzgerald is a 2004 graduate of Quabbin Regional High School. He is the son of Todd and Jeanine Fitzgerald, Hubbardston, Mass.

Weinstein is a 2004 graduate of Wachusett Regional High School. He is the son of Jordan and Deborah Weinstein, Holden, Mass.
