WALTHAM, Mass.- Brandeis men's soccer improved to 8-7-2 on the
season with a victory over Lasell College (9-7) earning coach Mike
Coven his 400th career victory.
The two teams played to a 0-0 draw in the first half with the
Judges holding possession for most of the half, out-shooting the
Lasers 15 to 3. In the second half, Junior forward Alex Mithoefer
(Chappaqua, NY) scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at
65:26 beating a defender and slotting the ball past the Lasell
keeper. This was Mithoefer's second game-winning goal of the
season.
Brandeis put the pressure on after that but could not come up with
another goal with Laser keeper Julian Dutton making nine saves in
the game. Freshman net-minder Matt Lynch had 3 saves and a shut-out
in his first career college start.
Brandeis University will next play at Emory University in Atlanta
on October 26. Their next and final home game will be November 3
