Premo's goal with 50 seconds left in OT lift men's soccer to 2-1 win over WPI

Worcester, MA (taken from a WPI press release) --- Senior forward Ben Premo (Florence, Mass.) scored with just 50 seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift Brandeis to a dramatic 2-1 victory over host WPI in non-conference men’s soccer action on Wednesday evening. With the win, Brandeis improves to 5-1 on the season while WPI sees its record even at 2-2.

Premo sent the Judges home happy when he collected his sixth goal of the season following a feed from Kevin Murphy (Monson, Mass.). The goal ended a well-played defensive contest by both teams. Brandeis outshot the Engineers by a 12-7 margin and enjoyed an 8-2 edge in corner kicks.

Murphy got Brandeis on the board early when he knocked home a pass from Alexander Farr (Nahant, MA) to give the Judges a 1-0 advantage just five minutes into the match. WPI answered back late in the first stanza when Ben Gilde (Manchester, Mass.) found Mike Ford (Whitman, Mass.), who buried the shot from the right wing for his first goal of year and fourth of his career.

Brandeis rookie goalkeeper Sean O’Hare (Southampton, Mass.) and WPI netminder Paul Moan (Watertown, Mass.) each were credited with three saves on the evening. Moan kept WPI in the contest with a great save over the crossbar midway through the second half.
