WALTHAM, Mass.- Three Brandeis University student-athletes have been honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as Athletes of the Week for Nov. 14, 2011.

Senior Kate Warwick of Boxborough, Mass., was selected as the Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week. Warwick earned her first career berth in the NCAA Championships with a 14th place finish at the New England regional over the weekend. She clocked in the 6-kilometer course at 21:49.28 for a career best performance, more than a minute faster than her time last year and at her last meet. The 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships will be hosted on Nov. 19 by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Wis. Further information can be found at http://www.ncaa.com/championships/cross-country-women/d3.

This honor adds another achievement to a long list as Warwick comes to the end of a terrific senior cross-country campaign. She was also selected as the UAA Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for Oct. 17 when she placed 35th  overall and 10th among Divison III runners at the UAlbany Invitational. Warwick was also the second-place finisher at the 2011 UMass Dartmouth Shriner's Invitational.

Junior forward Lee Russo of Westford, Mass., was selected as the UAA Men's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week. Russo was an integral part of the Brandeis Judges' offense as they successfully defended their Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Division III title. He scored both Brandeis goals in their quarterfinal shutout win over Southern Vermont on Nov. 9 and helped secure their second consecutive ECAC title with a goal and two assists in the championship game against the Albertus Magnus Falcons on Nov. 13, a game the Judges won, 8-0.

Russo completed a strong junior year with a team leading nine goals and 24 points. He joined 20 other Judges by reaching 50 points for his career with 20 goals and 10 assists. Russo will look to build on his 2011 campaign and lead the Judges to another strong season next year while he chases down history as the newest member of the 50 point club.

Junior center defensive midfielder Joe Eisenbies of Hingham, Mass., was selected as the UAA Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week. He was a powerful defensive force throughout the ECAC tournament, helping the Judges to three consecutive shutouts and just nine shots allowed. He was named the tournament's MVP for his outstanding performance in shutting down top scoring teams like Albertus Magnus, who had scored eight goals in their previous two games before getting shutout in the championship.

Eisenbies finished the year with two goals and an assist for five points while starting all 21 games for the Judges. He was a centerpiece of a defense that allowed just 11 goals all year and compiled 13 shutouts, ranking the Judges eighth among all Division III teams with a 0.51 goals-against average and ninth with 0.62 shutouts per game. Brandeis' strong defense allowed the team to compile 15 wins for their highest total since 1997.
