CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Case Western Reserve senior Vinny Bell scored late in each half today, becoming the Spartans' all-time scoring leader in the process and leading his squad to a 2-0 University Athletic Association victory over visiting Brandeis University. The Spartans improve to 9-3, 1-1 in the UAA, while the Judges fall to 7-3-1, 0-1-1 UAA.

Brandeis junior goalkeeper Blake Minchoff (Fiskdale, Mass./Tantasqua Regional) made six saves on the afternoon, but Bell's two scores were the difference. In the 41st minute, he intercepted a ball near midfield, dribbled to the 18-yard box and blasted it home for his 36th career goal. In the 83rd minute, Bell was the recipient of nice ball work by rookie Patrick O'Day and senior Michael Ihsan to score his UAA leading 14th goal of the season. The two goals were just the fifth and sixth allowed this season by Minchoff, four of which have been scored by 2010 All-Americans, including a pair by Babson's Eric Anderson. Minchoff still leads the UAA in saves (49) and save percentage (.891) and ranks second in the association in goals-against average (0.53).

After suffering an 8-4 shooting deficit in the first half, the Judges matched the Spartans at 8-8 in the second half and earned three corner kicks in the second half. Junior Joe Eisenbies (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) led the squad with two shots on goal in the contest, while classmates Sam Ocel (No. Attleboro, Mass./No. Attleboro) and Lee Russo (Westford, Mass./Westford Acad.) had three shots apiece, one each on goal.

Both teams return to UAA action next Friday evening, with the Judges playing host to Chicago and Case playing Emory.
