ROCHESTER, N.Y.  (taken from a UR press release) – Sophomore Tyler Savonen (Orleans, Mass./Nauset) scored a late equalizer and senior goalkeeper Blake Minchoff (Fiskdale, Mass./Tantasqua Regional)  made a big save in the second overtime as 10th-ranked Brandeis University tied the University of Rochester, 1-1, at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

The Judges are 9-0-1 overall, 0-0-1 in the University Athletic Association. They see their 14-game-winning streak dating back to last season snapped, but are still unbeaten in 15 in a row. Rochester is 6-2-1 overall, 0-0-1 in the UAA.

Minchoff finished with eight saves for Brandeis. With 6:15 left in the second overtime, Rochester's Max Fan took a corner kick out of the left (attacking) corner. He tried to curl it into the goal. Minchoff backpedaled and palmed it off the line and wide to his defenders.

Rochester goalkeeper Scott Garfing made seven saves. With just over two minutes left in regulation, senior Lee Russo (Westford, Mass./Westford Acad.), the leading scorer for the Judges this season, burst through right wing and fired a 15-yarder that Garfing was able to punch clear to his defenders.

The Yellowjackets took a 1-0 lead at 38:29. Fan's corner kick from the left side found Ben Keeton closing towards the left post. Keeton's shot was blocked by the defense. The ball skittered along the edge of the crease where Max Eberhardt slid it into the lower left hand corner.

Brandeis pressed early in the second half. Savonen was denied twice by Garfing, once on a breakthrough and the second time – 30 seconds later – in a buildup of the attack after getting a clearance. Both saves resulted in corner kicks. Brandeis finished with 17 corner kicks to 11 for Rochester.

At 84:57, Savonen scored. He got to a loose ball in the box, spun, and hit a 12-yarder into the right side of the net beyond Garfing's reach.
