Men’s Soccer advances past Amherst on PKs in NCAA Sweet 16

For the fifth straight season, the Judges reached the second weekend of play at the NCAA Tournament, and for the second year in a row, they faced the #2 team in the nation in the Sweet 16 in Amherst, Massachusetts. Against the host team, the Judges struck first when Evan Jastremski '18 scored in the 18th minute. Amherst answered in the 56th, and the teams were unable to decide things in regulation or two overtime periods, thanks to a career-high 10 saves from Ben Woodhouse '18. Woodhouse was even better on penalty kicks, stopping the Purple and White three times in four attempts, with Zach Vieira '17 burying the final attempt to lift Brandeis to the Elite Eight. The Judges rolled over Rutgers-Newark, 4-2, in the quarterfinals to reach the Final Four for the first time since 1984.
