Brandeis soccer teams earn NSCAA All-Academic Team awards

WALTHAM, Mass. — The Brandeis University men's and women's teams have both been awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Team Academic Awards for the 2015-16 academic year.

To qualify for the team award, the team must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 for the 2015-16 academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA then dividing by the number of players. A total of 915 teams – 325 men and 590 women – were honored. Brandeis was one of 236 institutions who had both men's and women's teams recognized.

In 2015-16, the Judges had 11 women and 10 men named to the Academic All-University Athletic Association squad for earning a 3.3 GPA during their playing season. The Brandeis men and women both reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III tournament in 2015, with the men ending the season ranked No. 8 in the nation and the women coming at No. 14.

This season, both teams have spent time ranked in the top 10 in the national rankings, with the 13-2-1 women currently ranked No. 16. The men are currently 7-4-3 on the season.
