Woodhouse adds United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America honors, Maatallah and Sunday named Scholar All-Region

Brandeis Soccer Scholar award winners Sasha Sunday, Ben Woodhouse and Hannah Maatallah.

Three Brandeis University soccer players have been named to the United Soccer Coaches College Scholar All-East Region team for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom and on the soccer field. To qualify for this award, student-athletes must "start more than 50 percent of all games and be an elite player," as well as maintain a 3.30 cumulative GPA.

Goalkeeper Ben Woodhouse's (Suffield, Conn. / Suffield) phenomenal senior season helped lead the Brandeis men's team to the Final Four of the NCAA Division 3 tournament, and gave him a spot on the First Team All-East and  Third Team Scholar All-America honors by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly National Soccer Coaches Association of America). Woodhouse finished the season with a 13-4 record, posting a 0.71 goals-against average and .844 save percentage. In the postseason, he led the Judges to four consecutive shutout victories before losing 3-2 to Messiah in the semifinals. Woodhouse will graduate second in school history with 23 shutouts and 39 wins, as well as top five in goals-against average (0.79) and save percentage (.818). Off the field, Woodhouse is double majoring in economics and business with a 3.91 GPA, tied for second highest among male All-East recipients.

For the women, junior forward Sasha Sunday (Bethlehem , Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) helped lead the Judges into the NCAA Division 3 playoffs with an outstanding season, for which she was awarded a spot on the All-East Third Team. Sunday led the team in scoring with nine goals. She also finished third in the University Athletic Association (UAA) in assists (9) and fourth in points (27). In the postseason, Sunday scored a goal which helped propel the Judges to a 3-1 win over Stevens in the first round. Sunday will major in pre-medicine and currently boasts a 3.81 GPA.

Junior midfielder Hannah Maatallah (Wilton, Conn. / Wilton) was also named to the All-East Third Team. She recorded two goals and three assists for seven points this season, as well as contributing on the defensive end. In her three seasons at Brandeis, Maatallah has started all but three games for the Judges. In the classroom, she is majoring in business and has a 3.87 GPA.
