WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's soccer team got a two-goal game from senior Andrew Allen (Norfolk, Mass./King Phillip Regional), but visiting Clark University rallied to score twice in the second half and force a 2-2 draw in a non-conference contest on Gordon Field tonight. With the tie, the Judges move to 7-5-2, while the Cougars move to 10-3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Allen's first goal of the night came just 54 seconds into the contest. The play started with a throw-in by junior Colin Panarra (Belmar, N.J./Marine Acad. Of Technology and Environmental Science). It was headed into the box by classmate Bryant Nardizzi (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) where Allen was waiting to knock the ball home.
  • Allen scored his third-straight goal for the Judges in the 11th minute, when he fired from 30 yards out into the upper-right corner. The goals were his fifth and sixth of the season.
  • Clark got the first goal back in the 67th minute. Junior Sean Munroe (Silver Spring, Md./Montgomery Blair) found senior Jack Stark (Abington, Mass./Catholic Memorial) with a through-ball at the top of the 18-yard box. Stark took a couple of touches and fired into the far-right netting.
  • The Cougars found an equalizer in the 84th minute when Munroe scored his 11th goal of the season. Sophomore back Sam Hartley (Sherborn, Mass./Dover-Sherborn Regional) sent a long ball from deep in the offensive zone. After a bounce, Munroe was able to beat a shielding defender and chip over the charging Brandeis keeper.
  • The Judges had the better of play in overtime, outshooting Clark, 7-1, but Cougar netminder Melvin Vincent (Rochester, Mass./Tabor Acad.) made four of his 11 stops in the extra 20 minutes.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Brandeis held a 26-20 edge in total shots, including 13-10 in shots on goal.
  • The Judge also out-cornered the visitors, 8-1.
  • Brandeis junior Noah Cohen (North Barrington, Ill./St. Benedict's Prep) made eight saves, a career-high.
