Men's soccer falls to #5/6 Chicago, 2-0

CHICAGO, Ill. – The Brandeis University men's soccer team dropped a second-straight University Athletic Association (UAA) contest on the road today by a 2-0 score, falling at the University of Chicago. The Judges fall to 7-8-2, 2-3-1 in the UAA, while the Maroons –ranked #5 in Division III by the United Soccer Coaches and #6 by D3soccer.com –  improve to 14-2-1, 5-1-0 UAA.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Judges fell behind early, surrendering a goal just 88 seconds into the game by the Maroons' Matthew Koh.
  • Chicago got Koh's second goal of the game and 13th of the season in the 14th minute, with the assist going to Nico Capotosto.
  • The Judges' best chance may have come following a corner in the 37th minute, when rookie Jared Panson (West Windsor, N.J. / Pennington School) had a ball cleared off the line by the Maroon defense.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Brandeis trailed in the shot total by just a 12-10 margin, and owned a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
  • The game was relatively cleanly played, with just 13 fouls combined (7-6 to the Judges).
  • Brandeis junior Noah Cohen (North Barrington, Ill. / Lake Forest Acad.) made two saves playing in his hometown. He falls to 2-4-1 on the season.
  • UC's Aaron Katsimpalis made two stops to improve to 14-2-1.

UP NEXT

  • The Judges close out their regular season next Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m. against rival NYU. Both teams are tied for fifth in the UAA at 2-3-1.
