NEW LONDON, Conn. (courtesy Mitchell College sports information) – The Brandeis men's soccer team went on the road to snap a four-match winless streak, defeating Mitchell College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference men's soccer clash at Alumni Field.

The Judges scored all three goals during a 15:43 stretch in the first half, and their defense limited the Mariners to only one shot on goal in the contest. Brandeis improved to 4-2-3 overall with the victory. The Judges had been 0-1-3 in their previous for outings. This was the first-ever contest between the two programs.

Senior defender Dylan Hennessy (New York, N.Y./Northfield Mount Hermon) put the visitors on the scoreboard in the 16th minute on a free kick from just outside the 18. He delivered a left-footed shot around a wall of five Mitchell defenders that tucked into the top-left corner of the goal. Just over five minutes later, sophomore forward Jared Panson (West Windsor, N.J./Pennington School) served a corner kick into the box that took a bounce before being headed in by senior forward Max Breiter (Lincoln, Mass./Lawrence Academy). Rookie forward Will DeNight (Miami, Fla./MAST Academy) added the game's final tally in the 31st minute to put the Judges up 3-0.

Brandeis senior goalkeeper Greg Irwin (Passaic, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) made one save to record his third shutout of the season. The stop came on a header by Julian Cortez (West New York, N.J./Memorial) late in the first half. Mitchell keeper Michael Kennedy Jr. (Enfield, Conn./Enfield) finished with eight saves.

Mitchell (1-6-1 overall) will next play at Saint Joseph University on Wednesday, October 2 at 4:30 p.m. Brandeis returns to action at home against MIT on Tuesday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
