Men's swimmers win last relay to defeat WPI, 157-137

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The team of junior Justin Wellins (Canyon County, Calif.), junior Jesse Hershman (Hamden, Conn.), senior captain Michael Rubin (Bangor, Maine) and senior Robert Morse (Hope, R.I.) won the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, to clinch victory as the Brandeis men's swimming and diving team defeated WPI, 157-137. They finished the race with a time of 3:20.71, two seconds ahead of their Engineer rivals.

Junior James Liu (Longmeadow, Mass.) had his usual strong performance in the individual events, picking up three wins. Liu took the freestyle sprints, winning the 50 in 22.24 seconds and the 100 in 48.22 seconds. He also won the 100 butterfly in 53.59 seconds. Rookie Marc Eder (Princeton, N.J.) was also a multiple winner for the Judges, taking both breaststroke events. Eder won the 100 in 1:02.03 and the 200 in 2:19.22.

Single-event winners for Brandeis were junior Alex Cemaj (Omaha, Neb.) in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:36.42) and Morse in the 200 free (1:49.16).
