Junior Max Fabian (Keene, N.H./Oak Meadow), sophomore Brian Luk (Hong Kong/Northfield Mount Hermon) and rookie Joanna Murphy (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) each had multiple top-three performances, leading the Brandeis University men's and women's swimming and diving teams in a road meet against several local rivals.

Competing against WPI, Babson and Smith at WPI, the Judges continued to impress individually, but could not come up with a team win. The Brandeis men lost 83-175 to WPI and 67-212 to Babson, while the women fell by scores of 46-226 against the Engineers, 80-163 against the Beavers, and 59-221 against the Pioneers.

Luk was the only Brandeis swimmer to win multiple events, as he took home two first-place finishes, as well as a second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. The sophomore won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.45, a new personal record. He then had two extremely close finishes, missing first place in the 50 by just 0.02 seconds (he swam it in 22.24) before winning the 100-yard freestyle by 0.10 seconds (48.59).

Fabian won the first individual event of the day on the men's side, touching the wall first in the 1000-yard freestyle. He finished with a time of 10:12.12.

Fabian was second in the 500 freestyle and the 400 IM as well. He swam the 500 in 5:00.03, finishing just 0.15 seconds out of first. He finished the individual medley in 4:30.91.

Rookie Edan Zitelny (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) had a fine day in the backstroke events. Zitelny grabbed fourth in 200, finishing in 2:08.91. His time of 57.71 seconds was good for fifth in the 100, and was less than one second behind third place.

Sophomore David Lazarovich (Stowe, Vt./South Burlington) finished eighth in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:27.70. Rookie Eb Weber (Murray, Ky./Murray) finished eighth in the 100-yard butterfly, while senior Joe Jacobowitz (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) finished ninth in the 500 free

Murphy continued to impress on the women's side, shaving nearly a full second off of her personal best in the 200 freestyle to win the event. Her time of 2:02.57 was 0.80 seconds faster than she swam the 200 at the UAA Invitational two weeks ago and 0.73 faster than the second-place swimmer.

Murphy also placed third in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:23.45. She shaved more than four seconds off her time in the 200 fly at the UAA Invitational. The rookie was fifth in the 100 fly.

Sophomore Theresa Gaffney (Braintree, Mass./Braintree) finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle, clocking in at 12:07.69. Gaffney placed seventh in the 500 with a time of 6:05.25, her best time of the season.

Sophomore Fallon Bushee (Malden, Mass./Mystic Valley Regional Charter School) was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.14 seconds. She also grabbed ninth in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

Junior Gabby Drillich (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) took fifth in the 400 IM and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke.

Both the men and women host Wesleyan in their first home meet of the season at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Judges will be back in Worcester for the WPI Invitational on December 7 and 8.
