Diamond a triple-winner as swimmers open dual meet season at Wheaton

NORTON, Mass. – The Brandeis swimming and diving teams had their first dual meet of the season on Saturday, taking a trip to Wheaton College to meet the Lyons. The Brandeis men dropped a 177.5-107.5 decision, while the women fell by a 206-84 margin.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Brandeis sophomore Zach Diamond (Staten Island, N.Y./Staten Island Acad.) led the way for the Judge men with three individual victories. He captured the 1000-yard freestyle (10:23.43) by more than 35 seconds. He also won the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.37) and the 500 free (5:09.63).
  • Rookie Kylie Herman (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) topped the women's squad with two victories. She took the 200 freestyle (2:03.24) and the 500 free (5:26.35). Herman was also second in the 200 fly (2:18.01) by less than a second.
  • Junior Joanna Murphy (Sarasota, Fla./Riverview) helped the Judges sweep the 1000 with a time of 11:22.69, a margin of 18 seconds.

UP NEXT

The Judges travel to New York to compete in a triple-dual meet at the University of Rochester. They will swim against the Yellowjackets and fellow UAA squad NYU as well as Division I Canisius College.
