Diamond adds CollegeSwimming.com National D3 Swimmer of the Week and UAA honors

WALTHAM, Mass. – For their performances in the team's first scoring event of the season, Brandeis University swimmers Zach Diamond of Staten Island, N.Y., and Kylie Herman of Weston, Fla., have been named University Athletic Association Swimmers of the Week for Oct. 19. Diamond additionally earned CollegeSwimming.com National Division III Swimmer of the Week honors.

Diamond, a sophomore, was the top performer for the Judges on either side of the ledger in their meet against Wheaton College on Saturday, Oct. 18. He led the way for the Judge men with three individual victories. He captured the 1000-yard freestyle (10:23.43) by more than 35 seconds. He also won the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.37) and the 500 free (5:09.63). Diamond also swam the second leg on the runner-up 200-yard freestyle relay with a 23.40 second split.

He is the first-ever Brandeis swimmer to be honored by CollegeSwimming.com as their national swimmer of the week.

Herman, a rookie, earned two wins for the Brandeis women in her first collegiate dual meet.  She took the 200 freestyle (2:03.24) and the 500 free (5:26.35). Herman was also second in the 200 fly (2:18.01) by less than a second.

Brandeis dropped both ends of the dual meet with Wheaton. The men dropped a 177.5-107.5 decision, while the women fell 206-84.
