WALTHAM, Mass (taken from a NEISDA press releaseThree members of the Brandeis University swimming and diving teams have been selected as Athletes of the Week by the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association for the week ending Oct. 22.

Rookie Richie Selznick of Las Vegas, Nevada, was  voted as the NEISDA Swimmer of the Week.

In a long back-to-back weekend at Hartwic and Vassar, Selznick won the 1000 twice with a 10:22 on Friday and a 10:12 on Saturday. He also won the 500 in both meets; 5:00.8 on Friday and 4:56.03 on Saturday. In some off events, he was 4th in the 100 fly with a 56.7 on Friday and split a 23.3 in the free relay. On Saturday, he swam a 2:07.2 in the IM. "His attitude was great all weekend as he endured the hard double on back to back days," said head coach Mike Kotch.

Prior to his swimming career at Brandeis, Selznick swam for Palos Verde High School in Las Vegas.

Seniors Genna Karp of Springfield, New Jersey, and Sam Zucker of Omaha, Nebraska, were honored as NEISDA Divers of the Week.

Karp has battled foot injuries all year and literally came out of a boot that she's been in for about a year to win the 1m and 3m events at Vassar. It was her first time on the boards all year!

Prior to her diving career at Brandeis, Karp dove for Golda Och Academy.

Zucker helped lead the men to an undefeated weekend picking up crucial firsts on 1m and 3m in a tight meet with Hartwick. His 184.85 on 3m was his highest score of the season so far. At Vassar, he picked up two more victories setting another season best with a 190.55 on 3m. His 185.25 was nearly 15 points better than his Friday performance.

Prior to his diving career at Brandeis, Zucker attended Anderson High School.

The Judges return to the pool on November 3rd at WPI.
