Swimming competes in multi-dual meet at WPI

Competing at a multiple-dual meet with three other teams, the Brandeis Swimming and Diving squads showed some fine performances on both sides. For the women, the Judges defeated Smith, 176-118, and Babson, 177-67, for their first wins of the season. The Judges fell to host WPI, 176-94. On the men's side, the Judges defeated Babson, 157-122, but fell to WPI, 171-119.

Brandeis had five winners on the evening. Rookie Richard Selznick (Las Vegas, Nev./Palos Verde) was the only multiple winner, taking both distance freestyle events. He won the 1,000 in 10:07.52 and the 500 in 4:55.81. Also winning races for the men were sophomore Tamir Zitelny (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) who took the 200 backstroke in 2:02.85, and rookie Daniel Wohl (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) in the 200 freestyle in 1:47.68.

The only winner for the women was rookie Rachel Goldblatt (Atlanta, Ga. / Galloway School) who took the 100 butterfly in 1:02.64.

Classmate Audrey Kim (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) had a pair of second-place finishes, in the 100 back (1:03.10) and the 200 back (2:17.07). She was also third in the 400 IM (5:04.05). Other runners-up were rookie Talia Bornstein (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral) in the 1000 free (11:26.44) and junior Kylie Herman (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) in the 200 free (2:03.19)

The men's second-place finishers were sophomore Daniel Haid (Robbins, N.C. / International School of Lausanne) in the 100 back (55.02), Zitelny in the 200 fly (2:00.34), Wohl in the 200 breast (2:15.91), AND Selznick in the 400 IM (4:20.37). More Top-Five finishes can be found below.
