Wohl a triple winner for BUSDT in loss at Colby

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Brandeis swimming and diving teams dropped their last meets of the season today on the road at Colby College, as the men dropped a 192-102 decision, while the women fell 217-77. The men are now 2-5 on the season, the women 2-7.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Sophomore Daniel Wohl (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) was the brightest performer for the men, winning three freestyle events. He took the 50 in 22.22 seconds, out-touching his Colby opponent by one-tenth of a second. In the 100, he won by just over a second in 48.72 seconds, while his 200 time of 1:44.71 was half a second faster than the runner-up.
  • Junior Tamir Zitelny (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) was the only other individual winner for the Brandeis men, winning the 100 butterfly in 52.02 seconds, nearly two seconds ahead of the top Colby performer. He was also second in the 100 backstroke in 54.62.
  • Rookie Claire Xu (East Hanover, N.J./Newark Acad.) picked up the women's lone win in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.20, 0.92 seconds ahead of the closes Mule.
  • Junior Natalya Wozab (Plantation, Fla. / Saint Thomas Aquinas) placed second in two races, the 200 IM (2L18.95) and the 200 breaststroke (2:37.12).
  • Junior Justin Weissberg (Long Beach, N.Y. / Long Beach) had a notable performance for the men as well, swimming 10:57.44 in the 1000 free to break 11 minutes fot the first time.
  • The Brandeis men also captured the 200 free relay, as the team of sophomore Marcelo Ohno-Machado (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines), junior Matthew Arcemont (Santa Ana, Calif. / Mater Dei), sophomore Chase Chen (Villanova, Penn. / The Hill School) and Zitelny swam 1:29.41, edging their Colby counterparts by 0.42 seconds.
