#30 men's tennis bounces back to defeat Chapman, 7-2

ORANGE, Calif. -- The 30th-ranked Brandeis men's tennis team bounced back from a pair of losses to other nationally-rated squads and defeated Chapman University, 7-2, in the fourth of five matches on their February break trip to California.

The Judges (3-2) won two of three doubles matches. After sophomores Steven Milo (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Dave Yovanoff (Eden, N.J./Eden) cruised to an 8-1 win at second doubles, the senior tandem of Simon Miller (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) and Nick White (Wellesley, Mass./Wellesley) earned the Judges' second point with a 9-8 win at No. 1. The 17th-ranked duo won the tiebreaker, 7-5, to give Brandeis a 2-1 lead headed into singles.

In singles action, the Judges won five of six matches, including four in straight sets. Miller had a 7-5, 6-3, win at the top spot, while White took a 6-3, 6-2 decision at No. 2. Sophomore Josh Jordan (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) had the easiest win at No. 5, 6-0, 6-2, while senior co-captain Steven Nieman (Forest Hills, N.Y./Benjamin Cardozo) had a nice rally from a set down to win, 2-6, 6-1, 10-3 in a third-set supertiebreaker.

The Judges wrap up the trip on Saturday with a match against third-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
