#22 Men’s Tennis Falls to #4 Amherst College and Tufts University

The Brandeis men's tennis team, ranked No. 22 in Division III, dropped a 9-0 decision to Amherst College on Saturday, April 23rd. Senior Nick White (Wellesley,Mass/Wellesley) held his ground against the Lord Jeffs in his singles match against Mark Kahan, who is ranked ninth in the northeast region. He narrowly lost the match 6-4, 6-3.

Against Tufts University, ranked 14th the Northeast Region, the Judges, ranked ninth in the region, split the singles matches on April 26th.  Nick White, sophomore Josh Jordan (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional), and rookie Adam Brown (W. Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) carried the team with the only victories over the opponent. White's score was 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, Jordan won 6-1, 6-7 (0-7), 6-3, and Brown defeated his opponent after the challenger retired. Senior Steven Nieman (Forest Hills, N.Y./Benjamin Cardozo), despite good effort, was closed out by Austin Blau in a tiebreaker set. Although unable to win any doubles matches, the Brandeis players did not go quietly. Senior Ezra Bernstein (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors School) and sophomore Dave Yovanoff (Eden, N.Y./Eden) extended their opponents Andrew Lutz and Kai Victoria to a tiebreaker before losing the set 9-8 (7-4).

Brandeis closes its season with a record of 10-11.
