#20 Cal Lutheran tops #24 Brandeis, 7-2

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -- The Brandeis men's tennis team, ranked No. 24 in Division III, suffered a 7-2 loss at the hands of No. 20 Cal Lutheran University last night in California. With the loss, Brandeis falls to 0-2 on their West Coast trip, while the Kingsmen won their season opener.

In doubles action, Brandeis rookies Alec Siegel (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) and Michael Secular (Bronx, N.Y./Plant, Fla.) earned a point at No. 3 with a late service break for an 8-6 victory. Singles saw four of their six matches decided in straight sets in favor of CLU. At No. 2 singles, junior Josh Jordan (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) won the first set, 7-5, but dropped the second, 6-3, before falling in a super tie-breaker, 10-6. Junior captain Steven Milo (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) improved to 2-0 at the top spot for the Judges with a marathon victory, 5-7, 7-5 (6-0), 10-6 in the super tie-breaker.

The Judges continue their four-match road trip at Chapman University on Friday.
