WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis men's tennis duo of sophomore Alec Siegel (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) and Mitch Krems (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Century Acad.) advanced to the finals of the 'A' doubles flight at the 2012 Wallach Invitational at Bates College this weekend, earning University Athletic Association Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week honors in the process.

Siegel and Krems knocked off Jugal Marfatia and Jordan Kemp of Trinity College, 9-7, in the opening round before upsetting the tournament's fourth seed, Oliver Loutsenko and Danny Knight of Skidmore, 8-5, in the second. They advanced to the finals with a 9-8 win over Middlebury's Peter Heidrich and Chris Frost, taking the tiebreaker, 7-2. In the finals, Siegel and Krems faced the third seeds from host Bates, Matt Bettles and Pierre Planche. Bettles, a two-time All-American last season, was playing with Planche for the first time, but the two knocked off the Judges, 8-2, in the finals.

The Judges only advanced past the first round in two other draws. Top seeded Steven Milo (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) and Josh Jordan (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) won their first match in the 'A' doubles flight, 8-6, over a tandem from Amherst, but the Brandeis pair were upset, 8-5, by Grindon and Bragg from Bowdoin in the second round.

In singles action, junior Evan Berner (McLean, Va./Langley) topped Jesse Butler of Bates, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round of 'D' singles before dropping a 6-4, 6-3, decision to Bowdoin's Peter Davis.
