LEWISTON, Maine -- For the second time this fall, the Brandeis men's tennis duo of sophomore David Aizenberg (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) and Anupreeth Coramutla (Monroe Township, N.J./Phillips Andover) claimed a tournament title, winning the A doubles flight at Bates's Wallach Invitational.

Aizenberg and Coramutla, who previously won at MIT, and also reached the finals at Middlebury and the semifinals of the ITA regional tournament, were seeded second in the draw behind ITA champs Urken and Tercek of Bowdoin. The Judges defeated Ali and Grant of Tufts with a late break of serve, 9-7, in the opening round. The Brandeis pair defeated two-straight teams from host Bates, defeating Glover and Leiner, 8-1, in the second round and Rosen and Quijano, 8-4, in the semifinals. In the championship, they met Amherst's Kaplan and Bessette, who had knocked off the Bowdoin team in the semis, and the Judges prevailed, 8-6.

Aizenberg also reached the finals in the B singles draw, emerging from a play-in match. He defeated Trinity's Granville Traynor, 6-0, 6-1, then won three matches in a row in a third-set super-tiebreaker. He defeated Colby's Jeremy Atwater, 3-6, 6-2, 10-5, in the first round, then met third-seeded Nathan Kaplan of Amherst in the quarterfinals. After the Mammoth player won an extended 13-11 tiebreaker to take the first set, 7-6,  Aizenberg rallied to win 6-4 in the second and 10-2 in the super. Against top-seeded Gil Roddy of Bowdoin in the semifinals, the Judge won the first set, 6-3, but dropped the second by the same 6-3, score. Aizenberg continued his third-set winning ways with a 10-6 victory. In the finals, Boris Sorkin of Tufts finally knocked off Aizenberg, 6-4, 6-4.
