ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team dropped a marathon match today in the battle for fifth place in the University Athletic Association, 6-3, against Case Western Reserve University. The Judges – ranked 14^th in Division III - close their regular season with a 14-5 record, their highest win total since 2000-01. Case Western Reserve – ranked 21^st nationally – finishes at 17-10.

This was the fourth-straight year that Brandeis and CWRU met in the fifth-place match. The Judges continued their stellar doubles play, as they finished the season with the lead after doubles for the 18^th time in 19 matches. Although the Spartans got on the board first with an 8-4 win at No. 1 by the team of James Fojtasek and Anthony Kanam, the Judges answered at Nos. 2 and 3. Juniors Jackson Kogan (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Windward School) and Tyler Ng (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) won an 8-6 decision, while rookies Nikhil Das (Smithfield, R.I./Moses Brown School) and Rajan Vohra (Glen Head, N.Y./North Shore) secured the lead with an 8-5 victory.

In singles action, Case Western Reserve quickly took the lead, winning the only two straight-set matches of the day. Kanam knocked off Vohra, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3, while Siddharth Rajupet defeated sophomore Benjamin Wolfe (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon), 6-4, 6-1.

The remaining matches all saw Brandeis win the first set and CWRU take the second. Unfortunately for the Judges, they were only able to convert one of those three-setters into victory. At No. 2, Kogan picked up the win, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, to even the match again at 3-3. The Spartans went back on top at No. 4, where Sam Concannon defeated Das, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Brandeis had a chance to win the final two matches, but Ng fell behind by a break early in the third against Jonathan Powell at No. 5, suffering a 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 defeat to clinch the match for CWRU. At No. 1, Fojtasek fended off Brandeis sophomore David Aizenberg (Highland, Park, Ill./Highland Park), 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, at the end of the match to close out the 6-3 score.
