REDLANDS, Calif. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team won all but one match this afternoon as the 21st-ranked Judges defeated host University of Redlands, 8-1, on Brandeis's February break trip to California. The Judges improve to 3-0 on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 0-1.

After dropping two of three doubles matches in their previous outing against Pomona-Pitzer, the Judges bounced back with a strong 3-0 showing today. Junior David Aizenberg (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) and sophomore Anupreeth Coramutla (Madison Township, N.J./Phillips Andover) opened the scoring at #1 with an 8-6 win. Senior Tyler Ng (Great Neck, N.Y./Great Neck South) and sophomore Rajan Vohra (Glen Head, N.Y. / North Shore) won 8-5 at #2. Rookies Adam Tzeng (Eagle, Colo./Eagle) and Jeffrey Chen (Northfield, Ill. / New Trier) rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at #2.

The Judges won the top three spots in the singles lineup relatively quickly. Aizenberg made it 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-1, in the #1 spot. Sophomore Nikhil Das (Smithfield, R.I. / Moses Brown School) wrapped things up in the #3 position, 6-0, 6-2. Coramutla closed out the top half of the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

Brandeis had a couple of nice comebacks further down the ladder. At #6, Vohra was down 2-6 in the first but battled to make it 6-2, 12-10, in the third.  Chen came from behind to win at #5, rallying from a 3-6 deficit to take the last two sets, 7-5, 10-7 in a super tiebreaker.

The Judges return to action tomorrow at 1 p.m. against 6th-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (10 a.m. Pacific) to close out their California trip.
