WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team picked a relatively easy sweep of visiting New York University today. With the 9-0 win, the 15th-ranked Judges improve to 8-3 on the season, while the Violets fall to 0-6.

The Judges started strong with a doubles sweep as each Brandeis tandem won as many games as the entire Violets doubles lineup. Seniors Jeffrey Chen (Northfield, Ill./New Trier) and Adam Tzeng (Eagle, Idaho/Eagle) opened with an 8-4 win at the top spot. Senior Colt Tegtmeier (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) and first-year Aryan Nijhawan (Shrewsbury, Mass. / Westborough) teamed up at #2 while sophomores Aaron Basye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Tesoro) and Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md. / Gilman School) at #3, each won by 8-2 decisions.

In singles play, Tzeng rolled over his opponent, 6-1, 6-0, at #1 for the fourth point, while  Chen cruised at #2 for the clincher, 6-2, 6-3. Walters was challenged in his first set, going to a tiebreaker before winning, then taking the second easily for a 7-6, 6-1 win at #3.

In the bottom half of the lineup, Tegtmeier at #4 and junior Simon Kauppila (Chesterfield, Mo./Marquette) at #5 won by identical 6-2, 6-3 scores. Bayse met little resistance at #6, 6-1, 6-0.
