WALTHAM, Mass. – Five members of the Brandeis University men's tennis team have been honored as 2022 All-University Athletic Association selections.

Seniors Adam Tzeng of Eagle, Idaho, and Jeffrey Chen of Northfield, Illinois, were honored for both singles and doubles for the fourth year in a row, giving them each eight career All-Association awards. Tzeng was a first-team selection at #1 singles, and he and Chen were both first-team selections at #1 doubles. Chen added second-team honors at #2 singles. Sophomore Dylan Walters of Baltimore, Maryland, was a second-team selection at #3/4 singles. Walters and doubles partner junior Hunter Levine of  Weston, Florida, were honorable mention selections at #2 doubles, while sophomore Chen Liang of Shanghai, China, was an honorable mention at #6 singles.

Chen and Tzeng will go down as one of the most successful doubles teams in program history. They posted a 19-6 overall record this season, including 12-5 in dual matches and 2-1 in UAA play. As juniors, they were both named All-Americans as they advanced all the way to the finals of the NCAA Division III Doubles Championships while helping the Judges reach the quarterfinals of the Team Championships. As a team, they went 46-14 over their four-year career.

In 2022, Tzeng posted an 8-7 singles record – 8-5 in dual matches and 1-0 in UAA play. He finished his career at 30-26 overall in singles action, totaling 90 wins in singles and doubles combined. Tzeng is the first player in Brandeis men's tennis history to earn All-UAA singles and doubles honors four years in a row, earning eight honors altogether.

In singles, Chen went 11-10 overall this season, including 9-6 at #2 singles in dual matches. He finishes his career just shy of the 100-win plateau with 97. Chen ends his career as a seven-time All-Association selection, earning three singles and four doubles honors.  Chen and Tzeng were named co-winners of Brandeis's Harry, Joseph, and Ida Stein award for outstanding male athletes this year.

This is the first career All-UAA recognition for Walters, Levine, and Liang. Walters went 12-6 in singles this season, including 6-0 at #3 and 4-3 at #4. He won his only UAA match in three sets to help the Judges win the fifth-place match at the conference championships. Walters and Levine were 6-2 at #2 doubles this season, including a 2-1 mark at the UAA tournament, after coming together midseason due to an injury in the Brandeis lineup. That injury also allowed Liang to join the top six, and he posted a 4-1 record overall, including 3-1 at #6 singles. Five of his six dual matches came against top-30 opponents, and he won three and was even in a UAA match at the time of decision.

The Brandeis men's tennis team finished the 2021-22 season with a 12-6 record under second-year head coach Pauri Pandian. They were ranked 23rd nationally in Division III at the end of the regular season. The Judges were ranked as high as ninth in Division III this year. Four of the team's six losses came by 5-4 scores, with the two others coming against teams that have reached the NCAA tournament quarterfinals.
