WALTHAM, Mass. -- Brandeis senior Chris Brown (No. Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) set a new school record in the 1,500-meter run tonight at the New Balance Twilight Meet at Bentley College. With a time of 3:43.49, Brown established the fastest time in Division III for 2012 by three seconds. It is also the sixth-fastest time in Division III history. Brown surpassed Hall of Famer Mark Beeman '85's previous record of 3:44.9 by more than a second and a half. That record had stood for nearly 30 years.

The Judges had several other personal records at the meet in the 1,500 from juniors Mik Kern (Groton, N.Y./Groton) and junior Alex Kramer (No. Andover, Mass./No. Andover) and in the 5,000 by sophomore Ed Colvin (Roslindale, Mass./Catholic Memorial School). More details will follow tomorrow.
