WALTHAM, Mass. — The Brandeis University Outdoor Track and Field team will send two participants to the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University later this week. Senior Amelia Lundkvist of South Portland, Maine, will make her final appearance in a Judges' uniform in the 1,500-meter run, while junior Mo Sidique of Harlem, N.Y., will represent the Brandeis men in the triple jump.
Lundkvist will run the 1,500-meter preliminaries on Thursday, May 22, at 6 p.m., with the finals scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday. She is seeded 11th in the event with a season-best time of 4:34.07, which she turned in on May 10 at the New Balance Twilight Meet held at Bentley University. Lundkvist earned All-New England honors in the 1,500-meter run this season, placing fourth, while also coming in fifth in the University Athletic Association (UAA) in the event.
This will be Lundkvist's third trip to the NCAA championships in 2013-14. She placed 22nd and earned All-America honors in cross country and 10th in the mile run at the indoor championships.
Sidique is making his first career appearance at an NCAA championship meet. He is tied for 10th in Division III in the triple jump entering the meet with a lifetime best distance of 47 feet, 9 ¾ inches (14.57 meters). He set that mark on May 1 at the New England Division III Championships. Sidique won the UAA title in the triple jump both indoors and outdoors, while also finishing second at New England Division III and fifth at the New England All-Division meet, reaching 47 feet at all three events. The men's triple jump will be held at noon on Saturday, May 24.
